Welcome to our career page
Although our core competence originated in the area of environmental protection, over the last two decades we have grown and expanded our competences and skills to cover a range of other policy areas, including fundamental rights, public health, occupational health and safety, labour relations, transport, energy, climate change, cohesion policy, consumer protection and financial services.
All associates that join our team, regardless of their level or role in our community, will participate in a comprehensive induction programme that includes: introduction to our working environment; understanding of our culture and values; explanation of our common working practices; training on our key information & management systems.
From time to time, everyone needs some help, support or guidance and this is why everyone who joins Milieu is assigned an advisor. The role of the advisor is to help the new employee settle in, understand our culture, and just generally be someone they can go to if they need a little advice.
Everyone at Milieu has a Development Coach. The role of the coach is to help the associate to develop into a stronger, more efficient and effective member of the Milieu community. They will have regular chats to offer support and to ensure that the associate is developing and on their way to reaching their full potential. The coach will help the associate to draw-up a personal development plan and then encourage and help them to adhere to this plan.
In addition to ongoing day-to-day feedback and mentoring, we provide all associates with regular and structured 360° feedback from the colleagues they work with on projects and proposals. The frequency of the feedback depends on your experience within the community, but everyone participates in a 360° at least once per year to get a view on how they’re doing and where they should develop to reach the next step in their career at Milieu.
Milieu encourages all associates to have an individual development plan. These plans will help guide an individual’s professional development within the Milieu Community over time and cover both specialised skills (environment, gender, energy etc.) and general skills (project management, communications, writing etc.) towards being a great consultant.
Best practice states that to get the most of the time you have available for development, 70% of your learning should be “on the job” and we are big believers in that. In Milieu, you have the opportunity to play different roles on projects, increase your knowledge in a specific area or work on projects in new and different areas to broaden your expertise.
We offer regular classroom training sessions to our associates to support the development actions in their development plan. The topics and timing vary depending on the needs of the business and community but here are some example courses that we run:
Every month, members of our community take the initiative to organise “Brown Bag Lunches” that are open to all of our associates. The sessions are presented by your colleagues or external presenters and the topics are wide and varied. There is no obligation to attend but we think that it’s a great way to gain new knowledge, meet people from other areas of the business and build a stronger community.
